Tuna Azul

Tuna Azul is a great option for fresh local seafood, in a relaxed and fun environment! The venue’s new Puerto Vallarta location in Versalles has an outside patio with a nice bar and beautiful little palm trees, perfect place to enjoy a couple of ice cold beers (yes the beers are served nice and chilled here!). The inside area is not as cute, the florescent lighting, and TVs take away from the ambiance, but I'm sure if it's hot enough you might go in for the ac option.
The servers were very kind and sweet, and always make us feel very welcome! We’ve ordered the tuna azul tostada, (it was very fresh and the flavor was good, but not our favorite dish there). The cucaracha style shrimp were so fantastic!!! The shrimp were large, fresh and the chili oil sauce was delicious, all served on a few pieces of crunchy baguette, yummy, and fantastic with the cold beer! So the deal is, you eat the whole shrimp! There's one piece of the shell towards the head that is easily removed and I didn't eat the tail but the rest of the fried shell is meant to be eaten, I was hesitant at first but wow! (it is crunchy and savory, so tasty, we’ve come back for this item a few times now) the server seemed happy we enjoyed it! We also love to get the rock shrimp which is very juicy, crunchy and the flavor was excellent, (the shrimp are coated in a light batter, fried and then tossed in a zesty habanero aioli, yum). The tuna mondito is the dish that gets a lot of hype, and we think it’s worth it, so great (large pieces of tuna marinated with mangos, red onion, jalapeños, all on top of a giant bed of lightly mixed avocado pieces, drizzled with a mango sauce), they come with tostadas, but they are happy to give you fresh chips with it instead which we absolutely love! We’ve also tried the fish and shrimp tacos, but their stand alone dishes seem to outshine these. Awesome spot to have some drinks and an appetizer feast with friends or your loved one! The portions are great sizes and the prices are fair, the chips and salsa were fresh, and the salsa was unique and actually spicy, yum!
You are given little fresh fruit palettas at the end of the meal, which are so yummy and tangy, very refreshing, I love the tamarind and passion fruit one.
Overall great meal, time after time, we will be back!

Oh and you can save 15% on your bill by using cash (Versalles location only- in our opinion this location is way better than the one in the Romantica)
