Pellizcadas

If you are looking for a fun, traditional Mexican lunch experience Pellizcadas is the perfect place. We've been twice now, both times were great experiences! They have indoor seating as well as about 3 tables on the sidewalk with a small view of the ocean, restaurant is decorated very quaintly, and the outdoor area has cute brightly colored table cloths, and wooden tables and chairs. This little venue is frequented by many locals, and has a very relaxed vibe. We enjoyed the outdoor seating, once with a party of two, and the next with a party of six, they were happy to welcome us back and very quickly put the outside tables together for us.
We've tried the blue and white corn pellizcadas, which are made from fresh corn masa that has been rolled out then pinched around the edges and griddled and served flat- like a giant sope, then topped with cheese (they go lighter on the cheese), meat or veggie of your choice, beans, and fresh onion and cilantro. The choices of meats vary and they have beef guisado (similar to a braised beef), chorizo, grilled flank steak, lengua, seared chicken and a few others. We’ve tried the chorizo, and the grilled flank steak and both were yummy, with the steak being the favorite, very tender. Our friend opted for the veggie option, they have roasted mushrooms, and grilled pablono peppers with cheese, she got the peppers (not spicy) and loved it! The masa was tender and delicious, almost fluffy and not rubbery at all, one is a perfect size per person, really fresh and a great lunch! We also tried the white and blue masa quesadillas, also really good, same topping options as the pellizcadas, also perfect portion for one person. All of the tortillas for the quesadillas and the pellizacadas are rolled out and formed to order, then cooked on their open air flat top, very delish. They serve an array of fresh salsas which are all excellent, none are overly spicy but some definitely have a fantastic heat, fresh cucumbers, radishes and limes, grilled onions and jalapeños (I think you’ve got to know to ask for the grilled goodies), which really makes this place extra special as you load all these items up on your pellizcada.
The servers are very sweet and very patiently explained the uniqueness of the dishes, they are very proud of the food they serve there, and it shows. We were excited to bring our friends here, and they all loved it!!! Each of them were stoked to get legit traditional Mexican food, and there was not a bite left as we all finished enjoying.

Lunch here is a fun and chill experience, and very affordable as well (about $8 usd per person if you get a drink there), great to have a bite here then go across the street and down a couple blocks to the beach
Pro tip: they don't serve beer, but don't mind you buying some from the oxxo just across the way, just keep your receipt for them is all they ask!
