Hola Arepas aka; Hola Amazing!!!
Adorable venue, smaller indoor (indoor has ac) and outdoor seating in a great neighborhood, super clean and inviting. The food is nothing short of mouthwatering. Everything we've tried has been so so good, and we’ve tried A LOT lol! We’ve ordered: the ham and cheese empanada, and one with shredded beef, seared plantains, black beans and cheese, they were pockets of hot melted heaven, encased in a light crispy corn exterior that is absolutely perfect. We usually get these as like an appetizer before our arepas, they are just too delicious to pass up!!! The arepas are like none we’ve ever had before, the masa they make the arepas with are incredibly made of all corn, light and have a perfect chew to them and are grilled to perfection before lovingly stuffed with crazy good fillings: pork shoulder braised in oranges and topped Gouda cheese, one loaded with grilled shrimp, braised beef with seared sweet plantains, juicy spiced picadillo, we have never tasted arepas like these! The masa texture is the secret; tender and light, a little crispy and stuffed with the juicy meat and cheeses, savory bites all around!

All of these delights are served with three housemade sauces: a green garlic aioli, a lightly sweet Jamaica (hibiscus) jam, and a macha type dried chili oil with peanuts. Honestly these don’t need the sauces, but wow, they take them to the top floor, sweet, garlicky, spicy heaven!!!
We’ve also ordered a Venezuelan juice that changes daily, guanábana was one, another was called “Chicha” a Venezuelan fermented rice and pineapple drink refreshing, lightly tart and not too sweet, and was a perfect accompaniment to our mini feast that night, yum!

They serve other items as well as rice plates served along with meats of your choice, and a corn crepe like entree, that was almost dessert like, and really special too. The restaurant is fun, cute, and a chill atmosphere, with people who really care about the food, and are eager to share special items many folks haven’t got to try before. We love Hola Arepas!
