Homun

We love Homun!!! This is our favorite upscale type of restaurant in all of PV, its vibe is mellow and chill, service is always excellent, the drinks are amazing and the food is incredible. Always! We have been here at least ten times and it is very consistent, and we always leave happy!

Homun is located in Versalles, in a home converted into a restaurant, there is seating inside downstairs (about 4 tables), in the back patio area (again about 4 tables) and there is also a hidden speakeasy upstairs that has a few tables, and you are welcome to eat at the bar as well. The restaurant has a very beautiful low key vibe, very comfortable, the garden patio area is super charming, and is filled with gorgeous greenery and strung up lights, that is extra special at night. The kitchen is open, and located right between the two, extremely clean, cooks and chef always working hard but smiling, and mouth watering smells are wafting from the kitchen area all night long, it’s awesome to watch! The bar is upstairs and is like a little world of it’s own, amazing selection of local liquors from Mexican gin, to Mexican whisky, and the bartender working is very talented, and it shows in all the cocktails. It’s fun to eat upstairs as well as downstairs, and watching the drinks being made is awesome too. That being said the cocktails here are also our favorite in town, we’ve had; the cantarito, the basilico, the Santa sangre, the Pineapple Express, and all have been fantastic. The beer and wine selection is on point as well.

Now the food! Okay you basically cannot go wrong with this menu, it is larger in the busy season, and they cut down by a solid third for the slower season. The ingredients are all very high quality, the plating thoughtful but not overworked, and the flavors just delicious. An unpretentious, yet totally incredible menu that we absolutely adore. We’ve tried the steak tartare (both of our favorite go to app) it comes mixed with all the goodies, then topped with shaved preserved egg yolk, herbs, and a lightly spicy mustard sauce, all with lovely grilled to order sourdough on the side. Delicious!!! Okay back to the list: the fresh fish of the day sashimi (fresh and light), the pork ribs (fall of the bone tender), the mushroom risotto (real risotto, not par cooked and it is so yummy!), the spicy fried chicken sandwich (this is what you wish a fried chicken sandwich would be, juicy decadence), the white pizza (crust is perfect, wood fired oven, savory lardons, need I say more?!), charred green salad (tasty!), the white wine mussels and fries (a classic) and a few more, everything has been just fantastic. Friends and family will love it here, the menu has got something for everyone!

The service is very sweet and kind, always looking to help you make choices if needed, but they never overcrowd. Plates are removed and replaced between courses (always nice!). They all are sincerely happy to be there and after a couple times joining them, they always greeted us as welcome old friends. Really love their service team.

If you are in PV treat yourself to a beautiful evening here, it’s well priced, and the food speaks for itself. Definitely a place you can plan an evening around, “yes!” to everything here! A big thank you to the cooks, service team, bartenders, and chefs for being a part of some of our best nights in PV!!!

Highly recommend a reservation even in the slow season, they do book up as they are a smaller spot, this restaurant is filled with lots of locals and a few tourists who are in the know.
