Joe Jack’s Fish Shack

Joe Jacks has a beautiful two story location in the Romantica area, it's upstairs has a fresh and adorably decorated patio, perfect to watch the bustling street, and the downstairs area has a very nice bar and also had a beachy upscale feel to it.
The menu is fairly small, mostly featuring fresh seafood, some local type dishes; such as the grilled snapper, and a lot of classic American type dishes such as fish and chips, burgers etc.

Our service here has always been super friendly and attentive, we’ve ordered a few kinds of drinks, all were very yummy made with fresh fruit juices, not very strong though. They also have ice cold craft bottled beers! We’ve ordered the tuna poke, (the poke was fresh and wonton chips nice and crispy), seafood chowder ( we always get this to start, the chowder is really really tasty, a red based chowder, and the servers will totally split it in two bowls if you like to share like us, which is always appreciated), the shrimp in the chowder is tender and not overcooked and the broth is hearty and flavorful, we love it. We’ve ordered the grilled snapper to share; couple of things I really appreciate about this specific item here at Joe Jacks, the snapper comes in a smaller size, making it affordable and allowing us to try other items, also it comes grilled not fried, when it’s fried it can just totally dry out the fish and ruins it, the grilled fish comes out extremely tender, perfectly cooked and juicy. The server also debones it for you (yes please!), and you can ask for flour and corn tortillas and they will gladly bring out both, what a nice change up! Also the fish is well seasoned and has a garlic glaze really delicious and different, the rice and beans it comes with are both great, also a big step up from the just okay rice and beans we've been served around town. Once loaded up with all the goodies they make some fantastic grilled fish tacos that are delish! Try with a fresh side of guacamole that is made to order, chunky and yummy.

If you are a fish and chip lover, do not miss out on these fish and chips!!! The portions are very generous, the fish pieces large, and very juicy, and the beer batter breading is crispy and just mouth watering. The fries are great too, they serve them with all the fixings, and it’s one of those classics that is extremely satisfying when done right, and they have it down! We would take simply done fresh food, over some fancy dish that tries too hard, and that’s the type food they serve here, it’s straightforward but great. Is is touristy? Yes, but that isn’t always a bad thing, they serve consistently high quality food, with great service and a chill atmosphere.
The prices here are decent, not cheap by any means, but you definitely get what you pay for! Awesome spot for large parties as they can definitely accommodate it, and everyone will get their food at the same time and be happy with a fantastic menu that’s got something to please everyone. Great spot for kids too!
